Thank you to everyone, for every 1. In 2011 the inaugural 1$day was held on 20 October with tens of thousands of people actively supporting 1$day.
We collectively raised over $55,500 to reduce the global inequities in children’s health and education. But 1$day has achieved more than bringing everyone’s $1′s together. It has enabled people to come together as a community to confirm that “every 1 counts”.

Here are just a few of the many highlights from throughout Australia, AND around the world! Good news travels fast, especially when it is so compellingly simple.

From kids in The Kimberley
- My name is Katie and I have been fundraising with an indigenous community in the Kimberley! The kids were happy to get involved and some of them have every little!! I am pleased to say we have raised $171 through school… Thanks again, my year 4′s and I thought this was a great fundraiser and have been pleased to be involved!!

‘I might just be 12 but I really think that it’s one of the best things I’ll ever do in my life! Thank you for allowing me to be a 1$ Champion’. A Maree Turner, Walloon State School, Queensland.

‘Thank you for 1$day. It gave my 16 year old daughter a tangible action she could take to contribute to the larger world. She often feels locked out because of her age. I can just see how she would have gone to the bank, holding the origami pocket full of coins – like a nest – a symbol of the start of something bigger. Thank you for providing her and her peers with such a beautifully designed opportunity for accessible and immediate giving’.
D Rodrigues, Newcastle, Australia
‘The 20th of October is my 16th Birthday. I see this as a chance to make my presents into somehting worthwhile for someone else. Giving is definitely more satisfying that receiving!’ M Wimaldharma

A shared vision
-
‘When I saw your add on the television the other day I cried and then yelled out to my family “LOOK”. My husband and I have a 13 year old son and through his life we have taught him that there are children in the world that have far less than he does. We attend the 2008 NRL Grand Final and I said to my husband “imagine how much money could be raised for children all over the world including Australia if everyone in this stadium gave just $1.00″. My husband said it was a great idea however I’ve thought about the concept and have never put it into place. Thank you. You’ve touched my heart and made a dream that I had come true’.
S Elliott, Sydney, New South Wales.
‘I came across your website recently and I was immediately engaged, firstly by the simplicity of the idea and then by how it so beautifully articulated the power of one in a world that feels overwhelmed by need’. F Delbridge, Glen Osmond, South Australia.
